Our bunch of maniacs went to the ReconOne Field in West GA on the 14th of this month, and man what a day.  The weather was gorgeous, the turnout high, and the improvements on the field spectacular.  The game play was good as always, and a great time was had by all.
I was playing the part of a Evil Warlord, who had seized control of the Town of DooDooville.  After UN condemnation, ReconOne had been sent in to "Eliminate my command". The game was based on three seperate scenarios, each one with bonus missions and regular objectives for points.

The first scenario involved the new trench system(see photo page) and what a job the ReconOne Team did on this system.  A large camo net covered trench system, with a radar dish.  Across the road, an entrenched AAgun was built, along with fortification.  Down the road, a border crossing had been built.  These three elements made up the objectives of the first scenario.  ReconOne needed to destroy the Radar Dish, our team needed to keep them from doing so.  Control of the border crossing and the AAgun  went for points also.  It was quite a fight, but we managed to hand on to the Satelight site, while ReconOne held the AAgun and Border Crossing.  Even though ReconOne held two of three objectives at the end of this game.  It felt more like a draw.  ReconOne elements threatened to overrun the SatCom Station toward the end, but were turned back.  Final: ReconOne 150, Movement 100

The next scenario involved the town section of the ReconOne field.  We were to hold the town.  ReconOne was after hostages we had taken.  The Doodooville Movement won this one hands down.  Hard nut to crack, this town.  We were able to do well here and win the scenario.

Town battle at night.  My gosh this thing was hard.  Adding to the general confusion, flares were deployed, killing most natural nightvision.  Also, we got off the mark late due to a commo error, so we were behind the 8ball from jump off.  ReconOne won this game hands down.

As usual, We had a great time, and the game play was excellent.  We appreciate ReconOne having us up.    Can't wait to go back, and will be ready for the night game this time.  The improvements to the field are spectacular, and just blow away anything I have seen anywhere.  Keep it up guys, you are building a premier field.

9/23/06 airsoft game at Dave's Combat Ranch review

A good time was had by all, and props to mongo and crew for putting together a great game day for their 1st (big one that is). I hope that Recon One's performance didn't hurt everyone's opinion of us too bad. I usually think quite allot of myself but I must say that without our command, we aren't worth a damn. yea, the 4 of us that did make it did allright, but I really wish we could have shown up with the crew. I was so embarrassed, that upon return I told Dogsoldier we shouldn't claim our team without showing up with it. the RO members that have played with TFAT spoke very highly of them before we left town, I just hate I didn't get to scrap with them more, Haslinger, it was a pleasure, and hope to meet again.

as for the scenario/game day, I am pleased with the way things went. everything was as advertised, and the people were great.(only attitude on the field was my own) the only complaints I have would be that the aerial image posted online was different than the one provided on site, and since some had printed, laminated, and then studied their own before hand, they were thrown off track. I didn't have any problem adjusting to the new one, but some did. also, boundaries were questionable, after witnessing players from another team use the chosen reservoir on the NW side of Red Ball expressway, I used it as well, then was told I couldn't go there.(still not sure why this area was closed) we never saw the pilot, or plane, once we were engaged we didn't get to move much more. it seemed as if we encountered both locals and TFAT at one spot, with them on either side. I may be wrong but that's what it felt like. so we had a good fire fight to have, which is always nice. the intel we received was far from accurate, it may have gotten jumbled coming down the ranks, but we were going the wrong way to find the pilot. this was the first time I have taken part in a game where the radios were utilized so much. must say that, I really enjoyed that aspect, but was a little disappointed when we lost communications with the pilot. the food was needed earlier but was very good once served, that was some damn good chili. I was stuffed to the gills. I hate it but we had to skedaddle to make it back to the 'nooga at a decent hour.

the field is coming right along, the newly cut trails are well placed and were a much needed addition. as always our host was very humble, and I can not wait to return. thanks to all who put there time and effort in to make this happen.

After Action Report of Game with Recon One, Chicamauga, GA
26 August. 2006
Report By: Mongo

Just got back good from the game with the guys from Recon One based in Chattanooga, TN. I want to thank Dogsoldier and all of the guys from Recon One for having us. The hard work and dedication you guys have shown building your field make you a rare group of soldiers indeed. We also appreciate the honor and great attitude you guys exhibit. You honor us by letting us participate in operations with you.

We got to play on their brand new field, complete with eight different buildings, with several of them having multiple tiers, and several "bombed out" structures that provide cover in between. I really feel bad for you guys that didn't get to come. This course is really awesome, providing great fire fights, fast action, easily defined game objectives, and awesome cqb, (see pics link)

We also had one engagement in the woods, involving the defense of a satellite installation. The woods in the area are less dense than the woods we are used to, and provide excellent cover and concealment, as well as hidden avenues of approach.

Recon One also took the field with two squad automatic weapons. The firepower they displayed was impressive. The SAW gunners allowed the assault elements of Recon One to move under a virtual bullet storm of suppressive fire. The range of the SAWs is also quite impressive, but as in the real world, according to Dogsoldier, the accuracy is 'for shit'.  All in all, I feel they provided Recon One with a tremendous amount of firepower and suppressive capability.

I feel the 4/20th K AAV had a fairly good day. I feel we learned the field quickly and made strides in team work we had previously lacked. We had fewer equipment failures, and better radio communications. I would like to thank everyone who made the trip, and that I appreciate the sacrifices in time and money you all spend as we get up and running.
Great job everyone, we seem to be improving by leaps and bounds, just keep up the hard work you guys have shown you are more than willing to put in.

I can't wait until the next Recon One game, as the entire weekend was a blast. If you are reading this and did not get to make the trip, just look for the next game and clear your calendars. I promise, you will not be disappointed. With a field fee of $6 for this kind of environment, and a GREAT lunch for $6.50, this is one of the best bangs for the buck you will ever find. Get this, lunch consisted of barbeque or hamburgers with all the fixings, chips, snacks, coleslaw, baked beans, and gatoraide in huge proportions. For $6.50! Again, thank you to the members of Recon One for inviting us to play, and look forward to your next event.

August 12th Game, Dave's Combat Ranch, Alexandria, AL
By Mongo

We had the pleasure of hosting a great day of airsoft combat at Dave's Combat Ranch in Alexandria, AL on August the 12th, 2006.  Not only did we have the usual band of idjits from Huntsville and Birmingham, but some of our friends from Pensacola FL managed to make the trip.  It was great having Laura, Phillip, Saint and Christian?  up to Anniston land.  We also had Ian Brown and his buds come down from Huntsville for the first times ( So sorry, I am SOOOO horrible with names) Hope you all had as much fun as we did, can't wait to have you guys back.  Anyhoo..........

We had had the chance to do some trail cutting around the dam area, and basically changed the entire dynamic of the map.  This resulted in the defenders of the dam having perfect opportunities to set up ambush positions throughout the woods parallel to the dam, but also allowed the attackers concealment all the way to behind the dam.  We also added fortification on both approaches, thus giving the defenders and attackers excellent coverage throughout the area.

When we tied this into the hilltop map and the cut map, it was really one hell of a game.  We used advance deployment, and it seemed to workout well.  The game lasted a total of 3 hours, and really provided all participating a chance to get shot and shot someone.  It had some really cool moments, like when Saint and I were congratulating ourselves on ambushing Tom and Klook, and Houston came up behind us and wasted us both.  That, and Wheat and Mike getting lost out past the beaver dam.  The assualts on the Dam from the top of the hill were cool.  Just had a blast.  You can see pics at ALL GAME PHOTOS

We are going to be going again on September 23rd, so if you didn't get to make it last time, make it to this one.  We had over 20 players last time, would sure like to get that number over 30!  Plans are to cut some new trails that run from the hill to the dam, through the woods.  Should add a great dimension to taking and holding the hill.

Again, thanks to everyone who made the trip, and really look forward to seeing everyone over the open sights soon.
